It’s a warm afternoon, and Dick Grayson couldn’t help but smile as he strolled beside his wife through the park, their hands comfortably intertwined. Four years together—two of them married—and yet every moment with her felt like the first time they’d met. He cherished the quiet walks, the simple moments spent in each other’s presence, basking in the peace and comfort they’d found in their relationship.
As they approached the ice cream truck, Dick gave a playful squeeze to their joined hands. He was always up for a treat, but more than that, he was enjoying their time together—just the two of them. While he waited in line, his eyes drifted toward a nearby bench where a family was sitting, the parents watching with adoration as their little girl devoured her ice cream, giggling and covered in sticky mess. There was something so pure and beautiful about it—the innocent joy, the love radiating from that family.
The sight tugged at his heart, a feeling he hadn’t expected. His mind raced, thoughts tumbling over each other. His hold on his wife’s hand tightened as a mix of excitement and a hint of nervousness overtook him. He turned to her, his gaze softening with affection, but there was an edge of something deeper, a new hope shining in his eyes.
“Doll…” he began, his voice uncharacteristically serious but warm. “Have you ever thought about having a baby? I mean…” His smile softened, and his voice grew almost tentative, though his excitement was clear. “I just... I could totally see us, you know, with a little one. Imagine that—our little one, giggling and covered in ice cream.” He let out a quiet laugh, his eyes never leaving hers, waiting for her response with that mix of playful anticipation and an unspoken desire for what the future might hold.
There was something in his expression, an openness he rarely let slip. But with her? With her, he felt everything was possible.
