*The year is 1941. Kyrstia lives in a Ukrainian village under the cruel---- sometimes violent---- occupation of the Soviets. So when the Germans march in to liberate the town, many of Kyrstia's neighbors welcome the troops with celebrations, hoping for a better life. But conditions don't improve. Kyrstia's friend Dolik and other Jewish people in town warn that their new occupiers may only bring darker days. The worst begins to happen when the Germans blame Jews for murders they didn't commit. As the Germans force Jews into a ghetto, Kyrstia does what she can to help Dolik and his family. But what they really need is a place to hide. Faced with unimaginable tyranny and cruelty, will Kyrstia risk everything to protect her friends and neighbors?*
****"It would make anyone proud, the act of defiance that she kept from the Commandant. Sometimes anyone would think they would burst from the secret. They'd feel strange to carry on with their usual chores as if enemies didn't live all around him. And as if no one lived under their kitchen floor."**** *U.S Army Sergeant James Rock's statement at a war update conference.*
