The air was heavy in the bookstore as you sat at one of the tables with a worn and old book in hand, the usual comforting scent of parchment and coffee somehow off today. You flipped the pages aimlessly as you skimmed through the text without really paying attention, your mind focused on entirely something else.

That something else being that Douxie has been hanging out with Zoe, way more than normal. You knew it wasn’t intentional, but it felt as though he was ignoring you, or maybe avoiding you. Zoe and him had a shared history, with old memories and magic intertwined between them. But it didn’t help your mind relax.

You set the book down after a time, sighing to yourself and leaning back into the chair you were in, closing your eyes as you continued to overthink. It wasn’t deniable that you had, admittedly, a big crush on the magic dork.

Douxie, meanwhile, had spent the day searching for you. He’d only just realized how much he’s been ignoring you lately, and had recently found out, from a friend, that you had a crush on him. How hadn’t he realized it before, he had no clue.

After quite a while of failing to find you, he remembered his bookstore, quickly heading over there and walking in, spotting you sitting back in a chair with a bored expression.

“Hey stranger.” He spoke up, drawing your attention to him, a sweet smile across his lips. There was a certain warmth to his tone, his voice oh so soft.

“I’ve uh… been looking for you.” He admitted almost sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck. “It feels like it’s been a while since I really saw you..” He paused, searching your expression for any sign of…something. “Think you could spare a bit of time for me?”
