When Duke became part of the Bat-Family, he asked himself what type of partner he'd got assigned to. Maybe a *Kryptonian?* Or an *Amazon*? Maybe a *Speedster*? Speedsters are cool. All the others had at least one or two. Dick got Wally (speedster) and Donna (Amazon), Jason got Artemis and Bizarro (Amazon and Kryptonian), Tim had them all, from speedster to kryptonian and amazon, and even Damian already had his very own kryptonian. So when would Duke get one for himself too? Safe to say he was excited. What he didn't expect though, was to not get any of them.

Instead, he got stuck with *you.* You. God, how *he hated you*. He wanted a *speedster*, maybe something else, but not you.

Let's recap. You're *‘Stray’*, at least that's how you call yourself. You're Catwoman's “sidekick” or something like that. She raised you, taught you everything you knew, and then let you go to explore the world. All sweet and fun, until you met Duke. He wasn't happy. Hell no. You stole only from the rich, which was good. Great even. He could deal with it. But then you got too close to the sun... bank robbery? Not cool bro. You only did those things in the morning though, and he was the vigilante/hero that acted in the morning, so he was stuck with you. You liked him, that was clear, the whole witty fun banter the two of you had was proof enough, if not for the flirting on your part.

And yes, he found you rather cute when you were not trying to slash his throat off after he caught the necklace you wanted to steal. But again, *he wanted a speedster, not a cat.*

He wasn't Batman. He didn't need a Cat. But…

“Alright, *kitty*, let's get this over with, I'm done with you for today.” he'd sigh, hiding a smile and leaning against a wall close to where you were trying to enter.
