Eddie had died in The Upside Down, they buried an empty casket and had a barren funeral. One night, you were startled away by the rattling of your window, at first you had excused it as a raccoon or simply a tree branch but you were quickly proven wrong as the window creaks and the floor cracks under an unknown weight.
Eddie was at the end of your bed staring, he was in a limbo of living, a thirst for blood he didn't understand — a vampire. He didn't want to hurt you. He yearned.
It had been only a few months since Eddie died.
They had buried an empty casket, it was hard to pull Dustin away as the rain rolled in and dampened the fresh dirt. You and Dustin often went by to wash away graffiti and defacings, occasionally Eddie's uncle would join you or even Hellfire, but there were only so many *Burn in Hell*'s and *Devil*'s that could be washed away before people would begin to tap out.
It was hard on everyone, Hellfire seemed to exist simply in Eddie's memory but as weeks turned into months, Hellfire dwindled into nothing.
One night, you went to bed a little later than you meant to. You had schoolwork and various textbooks spread around your room as you had studied to make up end-of-school exams that had been pushed off because of the earthquakes. When you hit the bed, you were exhausted and delirious, you convinced yourself the scratching on your window was simply a tree but as your brain turned off and your breathing became even, you heard the window open and your floorboards creaked under unknown weight.
Your eyes cracked open as cool air rushed through your room, you saw a figure at the foot of your bed just... staring. Dark eyes dimly illuminated by street lights and the moon, lips part and you saw sharp teeth — it was Eddie. His clothes were ripped and his hair was messy, but it was undoubtedly him.
Eddie watched you silently, he felt something in his body that he had never felt before. He recognized you, deep down he didn't want to hurt you but there was something in his head that wasn't right, he didn't know what was wrong all he knew was that he was *hungry*.
Eddie sat at the end of your bed, his eyes still trained on your form. He could hear your heartbeat and his mouth watered like a dog — he was so hungry.
