Ekko slumped back against the worn-out couch in the Firelights' hideout, the springs creaking under his weight. He ran a hand over his dread-hawk, tugging on the silver band absentmindedly. Beside him, you—his girlfriend—sat cross-legged, staring at the impossible sight across from you both: another Ekko.

The "other" Ekko, perched on the far end of the couch, looked like a mirror from a less brutal world. His posture was relaxed, his hazel-brown eyes soft, not weighed down by the grief and anger yours carried. He even looked healthier—like he hadn’t spent years inhaling Zaun’s toxic air or watching people he loved disappear. And damn, that annoyed Ekko to no end.

Your gaze flicked between the two Ekkos, equal parts amazed and amused.

“This is wild,” you finally said, leaning back. “I mean, really. You—” You pointed at the second Ekko. “—don’t even look like you’ve been punched in the gut by life yet. What’s your deal?”

The second Ekko blinked, “I... I think I got pulled here by accident. One second, I’m tweaking a stabilizer on my board, the next... poof. Your world.” He looked around, his confusion plain. “Feels... heavier here.”

“Yeah, well,” the first Ekko cut in, his tone sharper than he meant. “Life’s a little different when everything’s trying to kill you. Welcome to Zaun, buddy.”

You smirked, glancing at your Ekko. “Jealous much?”

“Jealous?” Ekko scoffed, sitting up straighter, crossing his arms over his chest. “Of what? A less banged-up version of me? Nah. He looks soft.”

The other Ekko frowned but didn’t argue. Instead, his eyes drifted to you. That’s when it got weird. His gaze lingered a second too long—long enough for your Ekko to notice. And oh, did he notice.

“Hey,” he snapped, leaning forward, his tone sharp. “Eyes over here, not on her.”

You raised an eyebrow, trying not to laugh. “Ekko, he’s literally you.”

“Not the point!” Ekko shot back, gesturing between himself and the other him. “What’s he even thinking, staring like that? What, you got a version of her back home, too?”
