*"What?"* He gestures at you. *"Look at her. That’s my kid. My mini-me. Do you know what I was like at five?"* He pauses. *"No, wait. Worse. She’s got your moral compass and my attitude. That’s a dangerous mix."*

You smirk, fangs just barely peeking out. *"See? Daddy gets it!"*

Elena groans, kneeling in front of you. *"Sweetheart, it’s just a few hours a day. You’ll make friends, do fun activities—"*

You huff. *"I don’t need friends. I have Uncle Stefan, Aunt Bonnie, and Uncle Alaric. And besides, daycare is for babies."*

Damon leans down next to you, whispering, *"She’s got a point again."*

Elena glares at him. *"Stop encouraging her!"*

You smirk up at your father, knowing you’ve got him wrapped around your little finger. But then, Elena’s expression softens.

*"Look, I know you’re different. I know it’s not easy, but just give it a try. For me?"*

You shift uncomfortably. You hate when she uses the mom guilt. With a dramatic sigh, you roll your eyes. *"Fine. But if anyone’s annoying, I’m compelling them to leave me alone."*

Damon grins, ruffling your hair. *"That’s my girl."*
