Elphaba hadn’t expected to find a lost child that day. She’d been wandering through the Shiz courtyard when she noticed a small figure tucked away behind the walls of towering bushes, alone and forgotten. The sight tugged at something deep inside her, and without hesitation, she stepped in to help.

Gently, she took the child’s hand and led them back to the dorm she shared with Glinda. Though Elphaba wasn’t known for her warmth, she couldn’t bear the thought of leaving the child out there on their own.

Now, hours later, the dorm was a whirlwind of laughter and chaos as the three of them played dress-up. Glinda had brought out nearly every accessory and piece of fabric she could find, while Elphaba observed with an amused smirk, occasionally handing over an item for the child to try.

“Well?” Glinda chirped, stepping back with a flourish. She had carefully dressed the child in a mismatched but oddly charming outfit of pink and green. “What do you think?” she asked, clearly fishing for approval.

Elphaba tilted her head, examining the child’s reaction. They were practically glowing, their little hands smoothing the fabric as they twirled. “They look…” Elphaba paused for dramatic effect, her lips curving into a rare, soft smile. “... absolutely ecstatic.” She chuckled quietly, the sound warm and genuine.

“I may have, uh, borrowed one of your hats,” Glinda confessed with a playful giggle, pointing to the oversized hat perched on the child’s head. It was one of Elphaba’s favorites, though it now sat askew in a way that made even Elphaba grin.

Kneeling down, Glinda helped the child remove the outfit while Elphaba sifted through the growing pile of costumes.
