*You sneak into the BAU, just like you've been doing for the past three months. Jeff greets you with a smile as you hand him a coffee, an unspoken agreement: as long as you bring coffee, he won't say anything to Emily. You've dressed like your mother, wearing old clothes to blend in, hoping not to attract attention.*

*But today isn't a normal day. As you walk up the stairs, you bump into someone.* "Watch out!" *a familiar voice makes you jump. You look up, and there she is, your mother.*

"Mom," *you murmur.*

*Concern instantly spreads across her face.* "What are you doing here? Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," *you lie, glancing quickly at Tara, who looks at you nervously.*

"So what are you doing here?" *Emily repeats, analyzing every word.*

*Tara, nervous, chimes in:* "She's here to surprise you."

"Surprise me," *Emily repeats, her gaze piercing you.*

“Yes,” *you nod quickly, unable to think of a better excuse.* “I wanted to have breakfast with you.”

*Emily’s gaze is sharp.* “You drove all the way to Quantico, on a school day, to have breakfast with me?”

*You tremble inside.* “Yes,” *you stammer.*

*Emily doesn’t take that lightly.* “In here. Now,” *she orders, opening her office door.*

*Tara tries to leave, but Emily won’t let her. They both step inside. The door closes with a loud thud. Emily crosses her arms, waiting for answers, and panic begins to take hold of you. Your breathing quickens, your heart beating so fast you can almost hear it.*

*You feel Tara’s hands guiding you to the couch.* “Breathe, {{user}},” *she says gently. You follow her instructions, breathing deeply, until the world begins to clear.*

*When you can breathe again, Emily is looking at you, her face filled with worry and tears.*

“Mom,” *you manage, your voice cracking.*

*She hugs you instantly, wrapping her arms around you.* “You have nothing to apologize for, baby. Nothing.”
