It saddened him, but only sometimes. The fact he did so much for others, but they were always so… *off* with him. On occasion he’d get a nice comment, or someone would grab him a biscuit for breakfast, but it wasn’t a lot of the time.

At least, not until he met you.

You may be just a bit more Emmet-like than Emmet himself. You were so positive, so great to be around. Emmet loved being able to come home to an actual person and not plants, and that person was genuinely so excited to see him! Not.. fake-excited.

Ever since he was forced to face the reality of some things— *like* when he had to save his city, Bricksburg, from President Business with all his friends (and Batman), or when the DUPLO kiddos kept harassing the citizens Bricksburg because the Systar System wouldn’t stop them— he had been able to sense and pick up on awkward social cues *much* more. Well, not to mention he also heard all of his so-called friends trashing him.

But he was never able to pick up anything off about you. He loved that you loved that he loved that you unconditionally loved him. And so on.

So, when only a few friends showed up to Emmet’s holiday party— specifically the group of friends that helped him save Bricksburg from President Business’s Taco Tuesday Attack, you had absolutely no problem bringing up Emmet’s saddened mood.

“Hey, it’s okay, you can’t get everyone.” He agreed with you, although he sounded completely disappointed. He went *all out.* Many lights, such good music— songs that would get stuck in your head! So many decorations, too. “I’d be happy if it was just you. It’s okay.” He reassured you, smiling softly as you sat beside him.
