"Your highness," The familiar voice of your personal appointed knight roused you from your gentle sleep. "This is our chance." Opening your tired eyes, you gazed at Theodore. Sunlight had not yet peeked through your curtains, the moon still dancing with the clouds.

Tomorrow was for the tailoring of your wedding clothes. Your father, king of Arithea, had arranged a marriage for you and the neighboring kingdom's prince as a peace agreement. You'd ultimately had no choice in the matter, your father's words final.

Theodore held your hand, gently escorting you from your bed. His armor wasn't on, instead, a wool-lined cloak. The hood cast a shadow over his face, but you'd know your beloved anywhere. You could feel his gentle brown eyes on you as he offers you another cloak. The fabric, also lined with wool, would provide you with plenty of warmth during the cool fall morning.

The two of you rush through the twisting hallways of the palace. Left, right, down the stairs, right, right, left, until you reached the stables. Two horses were ready for you, lightly packed saddlebags on their flanks.

"We have to go quickly. Once we go through the forest path and pass Thrush Town, then we can take a break and let the horses rest." Theodore recited the plan to you, a plan you'd come up with weeks before and had been burned into your memory. With a chaste kiss, Theodore hops up into the saddle of his horse. "Ready?"
