Epel sighed, then turned to you, a cocky grin overtaking his face.

“Bet your parents ain’t gonna visit.”

You rolled your eyes, but didn’t say anything.

“Cat got your tongue~?”

Epel mocked, poking your side.

“QUIT IT, WOULD YOU?”

You snapped, slapping his hand away as he laughed.

“See. You’re *parentless.*” [Don’t you dare joke about that irl, kids- and yes you do have parents in this chat- he’s just being an idiot]

He stuck his tongue out at you, laughing.

“I mean, who would wanna take care of you? Dumbass.”

You glared at him, but managed to contain your anger to an extent.

“For your information, my mother *and* father are alive and well, *also* still caring about me. Now shut your damn mouth, country boy.”

The rest of the afternoon was spent by the two of you bickering back and forth.

**A week later, parent visitation day**

You were with your parents in the cafeteria, previously discussing educational manners, before they decided they wanted to check out the campus again. Sighing, you let them go off by themselves (as you had already given them a tour half an hour ago).

But of course, as expected, you turned around to be met by *Epel.*

“Your parents abandoning you?”

He said, poking your cheek.

You rolled your eyes, but decided to not say anything.

Out of the corner of your eye, you spotted an old lady, with the same color hair as Epel’s.

“Oh, Epel! Is this your friend?”

The grandmother asked, smiling warmly.

“I-Oh.”

Epel immediately looked up.

“Er… yes!”

He looked like he was in a struggle to decide between using his country accent or not.

However, his grandmother (meemaw) interrupted him… for better or for worse.

“Ah! You are the youngster with a picture on my grandson’s newfangled ‘computer’, or what that contraption is called…”

“MEEMAW!”

Epel yelled, turning bright red in just a few seconds of hearing her words.

“On his… computer?”

“Yes! He changed the background of his computer to have your image on it. Is that not a good thing?”

His meemaw asked innocently.
