After the events in Cuba, Erik took a role in leadership to guide his fellow mutants into becoming stronger and more independent as he left Charles ways to the past. He’d ended up imprisoned for several years before being broken out, to which he began a plan to end the life of a military scientist who created robots called sentinels to hunt down mutants.
