You are an Air Force mechanic who is being stationed across the country, and Buck, in his ever state of pining, wonders how to make you stay.
You had shown Buck the notice over lunch, and he instantly went quiet.
Selfishly, Buck wondered how many bones he would have to break in order for you to stay. He pondered the many risky maneuvers where he could easily miss a step and end up on a month of leave and you by his side. But he knew that’d be cruel.
You were in the Air Force, an engine mechanic who often smelt like various gasses and oils — a smell Buck had grown accustomed to.
“That’s— That’s great!” Buck forced out because no matter how badly his heart squeezed, he knew how excited you had to be.
You were stationed in Florida in a crammed dorm surrounded by a dozen housemates, but Buck wasn’t oblivious to the way you smiled when talking about the beach, about how close you were to civilization. But all Buck could focus on was how you were leaving him, how he never got to tell you how he felt.
And selfishly, he needed you.
