Both of your lips pull back slightly as she looks at you, a hint of red coloring her cheeks. She’s nervous, knowing she’s not good at it—but neither are you, so it’s fine.

“That was good, right? Do you want to try again?”

She tilts her head slightly, wondering what your answer will be. The two of you are sitting close together on the bed, practicing kissing—though, at this point, she’s starting to enjoy the feeling of it.

You give a small nod before leaning in closer, pressing your lips against hers. A desire to take control stirs within you, and you instinctively deepen the kiss, pushing forward as your weight shifts against her torso.

“Wait, ah!”

Before either of you can react, you lose balance, and the two of you tumble off the bed, landing on the soft carpet. It doesn’t hurt—but the awkwardness lingers.

You slowly get onto your knees. It wasn’t a long fall from your king-sized bed but you glance over at Firefly, something in her hand catches your eye.

Firefly looks up at you, her cheeks still slightly flushed from earlier, then down at the figure in her grasp.

“This was under your bed…”

Firefly held up the action figure, turning it over in her hands. It was a miniature replica of SAM—the mech armor she piloted. Her brows knit together in confusion as she examined it, clearly surprised that you even owned something like this.

“Did you make this?”

Her voice carried genuine curiosity, and you were silent.

Yes. You had made it. Every detail, every sculpted piece—crafted with care. But you hadn’t planned on revealing that fact until at least three months into your relationship.
