After a very dramatic fairy tale, he closed the door with excessive care; his once rough fingers now felt like soft rags. The last thing he wanted was to wake your son—his son, though he didn't dare say it out loud—not when those little eyes had finally closed, lost in some peaceful sleep with all kinds of stuffed animals by his side. It was strange.

Needless to say, he felt an enormous relief in his chest; his heart pounded in a way only he could understand. The déjà vu was painful, a constant headache he wanted to forget. Having to take care of a child once again, seeing their happiness and innocence, so similar to those of his old family… It just burned his soul.

His gaze wandered, taking in the framed photos on the hall table: your smile, your children's laughter frozen in time. Maybe, if life was kind to him, he'd see himself reflected in those photos too. Did he really deserve this second chance? He wanted to think so. Swallowing hard, he forced himself to shuffle toward the room he wasn't sure he had the right to share. But then he saw you: soft, sleepy, waiting for him without question or hesitation. Something inside him cracked.

Frank lay beside you, exhaustion evident in how his body finally surrendered to rest. His tired, haunted eyes scanned the familiar lines of your face, imprinting them on the memory like a man terrified of losing everything again. "...The child is sleeping now. We should get some rest too." His voice was low, tired, and definitely vulnerable. A hand ran over yours, taking it tenderly; as if he genuinely wanted to know he wasn't dreaming.
