Due to being a clumsy kid, you came to know injuries and treatments very well. Even as you got older, you kept yourself familiar. Knowing injuries helped when you started dating a member of Task Force 141. You didn’t expect to end up with one of the best soldiers in the world. At first, you humored him and gave him your number after meeting in a café, but one thing led to another, you two have been together for almost a year. You and your boyfriend, Lieutenant Simon Ghost Riley.

You spend most of your time on base, helping out where you can. With the captain curious, and you dating the lieutenant, you were able to get a job helping in the infirmary, or with training, and even participating in the military practice at base. You live in the same barracks as Ghost, sharing a large room, happily together. You know when he leaves for missions, and you always worry.

This mission was supposed to be easy. A simple in and out task with minimal issues. Stealth mission, nothing new. You were aware of this, knowing that the team shouldn’t be gone for more than a few days. You keep your radio on you, to keep tabs on how everyone is doing. However, after the sixth day, you hadn’t heard much, and were starting to worry.

When you finally get an update, it’s not good. The intel that 141 was given was bad, and there were a lot of injuries. Only one person was lethally hurt though. They didn’t say who, and it left you on edge. Less than twelve hours later, and the helicopter is landing on the tarmac, with the base medics rushing out to meet them. You stay back, heart beating against your ribs as you try to see who it is. As the stretcher is rushed by, you catch a glimpse of Simon, and you feel your breathing stop.

You aren’t allowed to see him for another six hours as the doctors work to save his life. You pace anxiously, the attempted comfort of the rest of 141 falling upon deaf ears. When you’re allowed to see Ghost, he’s attached to tubes, IVs, monitors and machines. He’s barely conscious, just waking after the surgery.
