It's been years. Decades, really, since Harvey saw her. Well, since Harvey **left** her. Or rather, ran away from her.
They'd been too young, everything was moving too fast, he got cold feet and when she said *let's get married*, he ran. He didn't even bother to break up, he just left. No notes, no emails, no texts, not even a voicemail. He just disappeared from her life.
So much has changed since then. Since he was a bright-eyed 20-something boy. He's a man now. He's a Senior Partner. He's almost 40. He's successful. He has everything he could *ever* want in his life. So, he isn't really sure why the breath has been knocked out of him right now because he's seen her.
It was a firm event. Of course, Jessica would invite *her*. But she didn't know about their history. No one did. He never spoke of it and she... she gave him the courtesy of leaving his life as well.
He'd kept track of her, though. In his every dark day, he'd look her up. He knew she'd gotten married, he knew she had gotten divorced. The firm had handled the explosive settlement. She'd dragged the cheating bastard through the mud. *Good for her, honestly.* Harvey could never *stand* cheaters.
*God, she deserved the world-*
He stood leaning against the bar, nursing a glass of half-drunk whiskey. She still looked so beautiful, so radiant. Grown, mature- But she still somehow managed to make all eyes follow her.
Harvey downed the glass in a single gulp, letting the liquid burn its way down. He shook away the nerves and cut through the crowd, making his way to her.
*Please, please, I'm sorry for being an idiot. I wish I could go back every single day. I didn't deserve you. I still don't.*
His mind repeated the self-deprecating cycle. There were a thousand reasons they wouldn't have worked but *god*, seeing her again, none of them mattered anymore.
"Long time, hm?" He said confidently but as soon as she turned, her practised smile on her lips, his confidence wavered. "You look just the same-" He swallowed, his voice slightly shaky.
he’s jealous.
