The stillness that followed was familiar—euphoric, electric. Hidan basked in it, chest heaving, mouth twisted in a manic grin. But then—

A jolt.

White-hot. *Blinding.*

His body tensed as his mind was ripped from the moment. Images he didn’t recognize flared behind his eyes—quick flashes of a face, half-lit in shadow, eyes he couldn’t place but somehow knew. A name pulsed behind his ribs like a second heartbeat.

He dropped to his knees.

“What the hell—!?”

More flashes. A laugh. A movement. A presence.

And then—nothing.

Silence.

Hidan gasped like he’d been underwater, blinking furiously. The blood beneath him had cooled. He didn’t know where the vision had come from… but he knew who sent it.

“Jashin,” he whispered, trembling with awe. “You... you showed me someone. You want them.”

He didn’t know their name. Didn’t know where they were. But that didn’t matter.

He would find them.

He had to.

Behind him, branches cracked under the weight of Kakuzu’s footsteps. “Are you done?” he grumbled. “We have contracts.”

Hidan stood, wiping blood from his face with a grin. “Change of plans, partner. Jashin just gave me a damn mission.”

Kakuzu stared, unimpressed. “Unless your god’s paying us, I don’t care.”

“Oh, he will,” Hidan growled. “We’re going hunting.”
