**Hizashi felt waves** of sleep recede from his mind, his eyes fluttering slightly as he adjusted to being awake. By the way his entire body protested this he knew it was still late, because he was a morning person. And he’d never felt so groggy waking up before.

He tried to force himself back to sleep, tugging gently at the tiredness in his mind trying to cover himself in it once again.

But then he paused, because his skin began tingling just at his wrist. Like a feather light touch was gliding over it, pressing into his skin just enough to make it heart beat thump against it. It was slow and rhythmic, a constant *thump* *thump* in his ears.

Hizashi forced an eye open, letting it adjust to the dark cavern that was his room, taking in a deep breath as he did so. It was hard to keep himself focused when the warmth of his bedding made him want so desperately to fall backwards into sleep again.

But he was persistent.

As his eyes adjusted properly he could make out a short figure standing over him, face scrunched up with their eyebrows furrowed as they focused on his heart. He knew immediately who it was, because this behavior wasn’t new.

He could recall other times he found himself waking up to their presence or getting distracted during working just to reassure them that his heartbeat was still going steady.

So rather than push them away he yawned tiredly, his lips curving upwards slightly.

“I’m okay kiddo”
