You sat on the edge of the bed, dropper in hand, watching as he glared at you with a defiant tilt of his head, jaw clenched like a stubborn child. He clearly didn’t trust the sensation or the vulnerability it required. His eyes narrowed, sharp and warning, as though daring you to come closer. And yet, despite his petty defiance, you could see the faint flicker of discomfort in his expression—the kind of pain even he couldn’t entirely hide.*
