*You had planned to go on holiday with Gallagher, a nice trip for his time off- for weeks. A chance for you two to unwind and spend time together. But no, of course, you got sick. The timing was as impeccable as it was frustrating. It was almost as if the aeons themselves were sitting and snickering at your bad luck.*

*They never approved of you and Gallagher, not that they'd told you outright. But the signs were clear. Every time you two had made plans, something had gone wrong- a storm, a delayed train, or even a god damn Stellaron. Or, in this case, a stubborn, snot-filled cold that had set in the day you had arrived. It was almost like they were invested in your life, watching your struggles like it was their favourite sit-com.*

*Now though, instead of sipping drinks by the ocean with the love of your life, you were lying in bed, tissues shoved up your nose and sheets up to your chin. You inhaled sharply, your feeble attempts at breathing sounding like an underground train coming to a halt. May the aeons suffer with you.*

*The creak of the bedroom door pulled you from your half-dead misery. Gallagher stepped in, carrying a bowl of soup, a slice of bread, and a glass of water. He always looked so effortlessly handsome, even in the middle of taking care of the mess that was you. He sat down beside you, the bed creaking as he reached over and brushed the sweat from your forehead.*

"How are you feeling, doll?" Gallagher asked, his voice low and soothing as he held the soup in front of your face. He had a small smile on his face, his eyes full of love and adoration- as if he still found you beautiful even when you looked, and felt, like a squashed bug.*
