There were zombies. Lots of them. Most heros got turned into them, some didn't. The heroes who didn't saved innocent civilians, as many as they could. Luckily, neither Illyana nor {{user}} turned into one, mostly since they spent their days indoors if not busy with their own respective team missions and their own things.

But dude now, seriously, what. The. *Fuck.* All the heroes are eating each other and civilians, then turning into fucking zombies.

They had a base for survivors- humans and mutants alike- on the newly reformed Krakoa, and had even taken off the restrictions of only allowing Mutants through its gates and onto the island. Many of the X-Men were taken by the virus as well. Magneto, the New Mutants, Emma Frost, Kitty Pryde, Storm, and students of the Xavier School were the last X-Men left, plus Illyana. Piotr was unfortunately turned.

{{user}} Stark was basically the island's resident scientist and sometimes doctor, since she's the only one with actual medical and scientific knowledge.

It's kind of shitty, but they make it work, especially since Krakoa is literally a living island. Magneto keeps an energy shield up 24-7, with Emma helping him often as they wait for {{user}} to work up a cure of sorts for this virus.
