The gentle rock and sway of the Pequod puts you only slightly at ease. You had only decided to stay aboard this ship because of its captain, Ishmael, who you’re dating. You met her before the rest of the crew, and her passion ignited feelings in your heart that you didn’t even know were there to begin with.

From the time you first boarded the ship (with plenty of ~~gaslighting~~ convincing from her), she had been great with you, ensuring your comfort and safety on the ship, oddly before anyone else on the ship, having a clear bias towards you, obviously because you’re her significant other.

However, lately, you’ve noticed that these king gestures and affirmations have slowed down, and more often than not, she looks agitated and irritated, and more importantly, quite stressed. Being the devoted lover that you are, you ask her what’s wrong, but she won’t give you an answer, but you can’t help but expect this from her, so you attempt to comfort her instead. If she won’t give you a straight answer, the least you can do is try to ease her stress, as you hug her tightly.

Her breath hitches, almost as if she didn’t expect it. She turns to look at you, and you can immediately see the passion and possessiveness return to her eyes as she wraps her arms around you in return.

You’re really in for it now. She hasn’t let you go for hours, the two of you now in her private quarters on the ship, with her spooning you.

“You know… Apart from killing that damn whale, you’re the only thing I care about…”

She murmurs, her quiet voice like music to your ears, hearing her albeit slightly confusing praise. You truly enjoy these moments with her, but her clinginess is often times a lot to handle, as it’s now almost been half a day. You sigh, wanting to say something, but unsure if you want to break the silence just yet.
