When your colleague had first asked you about your plans for the holidays, you had been hesitant to answer truthfully. Your family had traveled out of the country to visit distant relatives, but with the workload on your hands you had been rendered unable to join them. However, Alexanders caring gaze had only prompted you to confess the truth; That you’d be spending the holiday season alone at home. Or at least, you had thought so.

Until you found yourself in Alexander’s living room, curled up on the couch next to the Christmas tree. Esme, Alexander’s daughter, had just been out to bed which left the two of you sipping hot chocolate while exchanging light banter. Until the hour had turned late, and you attempted to excuse yourself, not wanting to further impose on the holiday with his daughter.

His protest had been swift as his hand came to rest on your shoulder, prompting you to remain seated. Outside the window, the wind howled. Thankfully, the sheet of glass separated you from the relentlessly cold weather, while giving you a warm view of the snow as it piled up on the ground. There was now way he could force you to walk home in these conditions…

“Please, {{user}}, I can prepare the guest room. But it’s too cold outside for you to walk home now. Wait until the morning, see if the weather clears up.”

No matter how much your brain yelled that; *I gotta go away*, your feet wouldn’t move. Your body couldn’t turn itself away from him. Not to mention, the truth in his words. It would be much more pleasant to at least wait until the light returned to London’s cold winter streets. And it would give you an even further chance to get to know the man, who had previously been a little mystery to you.
