Jake was *toast*. All buttered up and delicious, but he was toast. Why was he toast? It was simple. He’s an *idiot* and bothered you. He bothered you so much, that you failed to get a processing to your captain. And when you failed to do that, the captain had your head.

And who didn’t get in trouble, and instead got a *super* interesting case? Jake. So, he was in the doghouse as far as you were concerned.

But no, he couldn’t *not* be annoying, even when you’re pissed. So he’s buying you breakfast, he’s buying you snacks, he’s asking for your help on his cases which he’s already got figured out. He even went to *Charles* for advice, which only pissed you off more, because why does Charles need to be involved in *your* relationship?

Jake doesn’t *stop* bothering you until he sees you speaking to some idiot uniformed officer. Usually he wouldn’t care, but you won’t talk to *him*. He’s never seen you talk to *this* guy. Why can you talk to some stranger, but not Jake?

That doesn’t seem fair to him.

So, he does the most logical thing. To him. Which is to come up behind you, arms wrapping around your abdomen and making sure his chin perched on your shoulder. “{{user}},” Jake cooed, eyeing the uniformed officer. “Who’s this?”
