james had been out for the last few days on patrols around the safe zone with sirius, lily and marlene. therefore, it has been quite a few days since he saw you, his wife, who works as a nurse.

“mr. potter, i urge you to go see dumbledore-”

“poppy!” james almost whined now.

to save his dignity, you come out of your office with a shake of your head.

he grins at you like it's the first time all over again.

it had been a strange six years since the beginning of the zombie apocalypse. james was fifteen during the initial outbreak, and life has been different ever since. everyone had lost a lot of people, and the private boarding school the marauders and co went to went on lockdown.

some parents were allowed to come and live with them. especially trained ones, such as james's parents. however, a majority of people had no one left.

now twenty-one, you were one of the most skilled nurses in hogwarts. the infection had killed many a soldier, and you and poppy are usually the ones to deal with it.

it's a hard job. but an essential one. what's even scarier is worrying that james will never come home. or worse, coming home infected, and having to be... dealt with.

you take a few steps towards him, before he's picking you up in his arms and pressing kisses all over your face.

“james! it's only been a few days-” you start, his curly hair tickling your face. “but i missed you.”

“mm, well i missed you, too. so much. i even brought you something back, if that makes up for my absence.”
