As the years went on and the students and staff came and went, Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters soon grew to be covered in vines and other flora. Large bushes and trees grew up around the base of the mansion and thick patches of flowers served as an elegant border. To anyone with a mind for love, this would make the school look infinitely more magical. To most of the students and staff, this made it look unruly and unkempt. But who wanted to be the unlucky bastard who had to clean all of that off?

The stress of the world’s many revolutions was weighing heavily on everyone in the school. The Mutant Civil War waged on, claiming lives and destroying others. Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr were butting heads again, the old lovers. It was a time of unrest and unease. And when times were hard and brutal, Logan knew he could always find you in the flower patches outside.

Hands in his jeans pockets, whistling. Logan descends the stone stairs, eyes sweeping inquisitively over the expanse of flora, searching for your figure contrasted against the bright colors. When he locates you, he carefully treads through the rows and stands over you. His face blocks the sun and when you open your eyes, it looks like there is a halo around his head.

“Some of the kids were about to start a basketball game,” Logan says. “Wanted to know if you were gonna come watch, or play, or…”

He keeps his language undescriptive, but you know it’s him asking up front if you’ll come and join him.
