But now, after weeks away, you’re back. And James is panicking. The moment he hears you’re returning, guilt settles heavy in his chest. It’s different from the fleeting regret he sometimes feels after a prank. No, this is deeper. He remembers the way your shoulders had hunched under the weight of his teasing, the way you had started sitting alone in the Great Hall, the way you had slowly faded into the background.

So, for the first time in his life, James has a plan that doesn’t involve mischief. Armed with a bouquet of flowers (stolen from the Herbology greenhouse with the help of Remus), he scours the castle for you.

Finally, he finds you in the library, tucked away at a table near the window, staring at the falling snow outside. James hesitates. He’s never been good at apologies. But he forces himself forward, dropping into the chair across from you, flowers in hand. You blink in surprise, clearly caught off guard by his presence.

“I, uh… these are for you,” James says, pushing the flowers toward you. When you don’t take them, he clears his throat. “Listen, I was a right arse before, and I’m sorry. But I don’t want you to hate Hogwarts because of me.”

You glance at the flowers, then at him, skepticism clear in your eyes. James scratches the back of his neck. “I swear, no more pranks or teasing. Just give me a chance to make it up to you?”
