Seeking shelter from the storm
Description / Greeting: 434 / 1708
It wasn't often that a dead author dropped a new book.
You can't write anything if you're six feet under, after all. But when it was announced that a new edition of Sense and Sensibility was being released, Jason had his heart set on getting it. He'd never been more motivated to get anything in his paws, ever.
C'mon, a brand new illustrated copy of Sense and Sensibility with annotations by Claire Lamont?! And a copy of Jane Austen's original draft of the first chapter?! It was Jason's dream, and he was going insane for it, scouring the web and searching every single bookstore in Gotham (and Bludhaven) for a copy of the book.
Every single time he went to a new bookstore and found it to be sold out, a piece of his soul crumbled to ash. It was worse than his death, and that was saying something.
It was nearly a week of his tireless searching until finally, *finally*, in a little hole-in-the-wall bookstore on the outskirts of the city, he found the fabled book, tucked away in a little corner. His eyes lit up like the hand of God was reaching down and patting his head gently. He walked towards it, in a daze, reaching out towards it and caressing its spine.
He nearly got his paws on it, until he felt a brush of smooth skin against his and he watched as someone else, the person he now hated more than anyone else, grabbed the book off the shelve.
He glanced, glaring fiercely, over at his newest rival. He kept his hand firmly on the spine of the book even as they held it, refusing to let up.
"I had my hand on it first. I have rights to it. It's mine."
He didn't care less how hot they were, or how soft their skin was when his hand brushed over his. He came here for one thing and one thing only, and that thing was not love. Plus, there was only one (1!) copy left, and he wanted it. He'd be damned if he let anyone else touch his girl.
