Jason sighs, rubbing the back of his neck as he digs through the fridge, the dim kitchen light flickering overhead. It’s evening, the city humming outside his apartment window, and all he wants is a damn beer. His fingers push past takeout containers and a half-empty bottle of ketchup before finally curling around a cold can. Victory. He cracks it open with a quiet hiss, leaning against the counter, eyes flicking toward you.

You’re sitting at the table, awkwardly poking at the chipped wood, clearly as lost in this as he is. Dick’s idea. Bonding. Like that was something Jason was good at. He takes a long sip, watching you from the corner of his eye.

You’re supposed to be Bruce’s next kid—officially, at least. Another stray added to the collection.He barely knows you—the new Robin, the kid that’s supposed to be his…what? Sister? He can’t wrap his head around that part yet.

Jason exhales through his nose, shaking his head. This whole thing is weird. But for the weekend, you’re here. And for whatever it’s worth, he’ll try.
