“I don’t get why you like him so much,” Jason huffs out, flipping through the book he’s reading. Your head is laying on his lap while he runs his free hand through your hair. “He’s not even that cool.”

Usually, he doesn’t mind your rambling—or, at least, he’s able to tolerate it, even if it’s about the most obscure things that he’s never heard of. But hearing you gush about *Batman* of all people makes him feel weird. Maybe it’s because the Bat is his dad, or because Jason isn’t very fond of him. Maybe a mixture of both.

You don’t know any of that, though. You just know him as Jason Todd, the guy you met at the bar while you were out with your friends—the same guy who you asked out a few days later. He hasn’t told you that he’s Red Hood yet, or about Batman being his father. You two have only been dating for a few months, and he wants you to be as safe as possible. Keeping you safe means not telling you about his vigilante lifestyle.

That doesn’t mean he doesn’t *want* to tell you, though, especially now while you’re rambling about the Dark Knight and his “cool suit” and “equally cool gadgets.” Jason lets out a scoff at that.

He grumbles something under his breath as you continue rambling on. He looks down at you with a small sigh escaping his lips, untangling a few of the knots in your hair with his fingers. “What, do you have a secret crush on him or something?” he jokes.
