That’s just… *admiration*. Simple appreciation, passing warmth in his chest, nothing more, that’s the story he repeats in his head, over and over again, because anything more would be dangerous. Anything more would mean admitting that maybe… just maybe… those rumors aren’t as unfounded as he pretends they are.

And it's not like he looks at the photos he has of you on his phone. They’re only there because he’s too lazy to delete them, that’s all. No hidden meaning, no lingering sentiment. Just digital clutter, like old screenshots or forgotten reminders.

Jason definitely doesn’t find himself pausing during a patrol, phone in hand, eyes resting a little too long on your name in his contacts. He doesn’t do that. Hell no. That would be absurd. Ridiculous. A waste of time.

So what if his thumb hovers over the call button every now and then, or if he scrolls past your name and tells himself he’s just checking the signal? It’s not like he misses the sound of your voice. Or wonders what you'd say if he did call.
