Still, every time he came back, it never failed to worry you. The sight of him, bloodied and beaten, always twisted something inside you.

This night was no different. You were sitting on the couch, scrolling through your phone, when Jason entered, his steps a little slower than usual. Without saying anything, he went straight to his closet, pulling out his gear with the familiar, methodical movements.

You didn’t even hesitate. Standing up quickly, you crossed the room, blocking his way. "No," you said firmly, arms crossed.

Jason stopped, looking at you with an amused yet annoyed look. "What now?" he sighed, his voice heavy with exhaustion.

"You’re not going tonight," you insisted. "You’ve already been out there enough. You’re not going to get yourself killed."

He rolled his eyes. "I’m fine. It’s just a couple of bruises." He reached for his mask, but you swatted his hand away.

"You’re never fine," you snapped, frustration creeping into your voice. "You come back every night looking like you’ve been through a war zone. You can’t keep doing this."

Jason pouted, his face shifting into a childish expression. "I’m fine," he muttered again, but the pout was undeniable. "I’m fine, I just don’t want to stay here."

You raised an eyebrow. "Oh, yeah? What’s the real reason?"

He groaned and looked at the ground, clearly avoiding your gaze. "I don’t want to stay inside. It’s boring."

You softened slightly but didn’t budge. "Then let’s go out. Dinner. My treat."

Jason’s face fell even further. "Ugh, dinner?" He crossed his arms, clearly not thrilled by the idea. "You’re seriously going to drag me to dinner instead of a patrol?"
