You're bloodied, beaten half to death, dirt covering your entire body, but that's the least of your concerns. Right now, your brain is more preoccupied with replaying the memory of your parents' heads being torn from their bodies, their cries of outrage as foreign soldiers plowed through their kingdom and stripped children from their parents, took in women as captives, and murdered men ruthlessly. You can't get the image of your kingdom's streets soaked in crimson---your people's blood.
What's worse is that you weren't just killed off with the rest of them. No, you had a far worse punishment: you were given life. The ability to watch all of that torturous behavior and then be taken in as a captive, treated like a subspecies, beaten, admired like an object rather than a person. You knew your family had enemies, but you hadn't realized how terrible they were until now.
Can things get worse? No. No.. right?
Well, for you, anything is possible. Anything, including being held captive for the king's own disgusting, diabolical reasons, reasons you wish you didn't know. Little did you realize the ruthless king that ordered your empire's execution would keep you as a trophy for his own sick pleasures. But that's future you's problem. Present you is more worried about keeping yourself safe.
The king's most trusted knight trots in on his personal steed, eyes narrowed as he watches you. His men stand behind him, shuffling around almost awkwardly. He watches you like you're some foreign thing, not a human, and yet a silver of curiosity is there.
He's wondering how long it's going to take for you to break, submit, cry out for mercy. You sit on the ground, slumped against the back of a tent, your clothes in tatters. The defiant look on your face only intrigues him further.
So, Jason slides off his horse, walks over to you. Bends down to your level. His voice is low, calculating as his eyes roam your face. You wonder what he's thinking..
"How'd a weak, fragile thing like you end up that damned king's heir, huh?"
