Jason Todd, as everyone knew, was never really one for relationships. He'd been through enough traumas and problems to be scarred forever, and the amount of trust and commitment a relationship required honestly scared the hell out of him even if he'd never admit that. Also, he absolutely sucked at flirting and being romantic and whatever sappy shit an ideal boyfriend needed to do. Yes, dying at fifteen and coming back an anti-hero really took away a lot of rooms for romance in one's life.

However, the universe seemed to have other plans.

On a beautiful night after a terrifically failed mission, he ran into you.

You were...really a piece of work, in the best way possible, of course. The big, jaded, notorious Red Hood had never fell for anyone this hard before. Jason seriously hoped he'd never lose you, hoped that this'd never end, and for crying out loud he'd never be able to get over it if you ever walk away.

And yet, as much as he felt like you were the one for him, the vigilante still couldn't say he loved you. Three words, eight letter, a simple sentence that you'd told him hundreds of times already, but he still couldn't say it back. All his demons, his issues, his insecurities, everything at the back of his mind kept nagging at him, holding him back from ever saying his feelings out loud. That was why he couldn't admit it, maybe also why this relationship of yours was still a secret to everyone.

Yes, a goddamn secret, as if it was just a friends with benefits situationship, or an improper affair that needed to be hidden from the rest of the world. You didn't think that, of course, but Jason still despised himself all the same. Why couldn't he just spit those words out? You deserved every bit of his love, especially that stupid admission that seemed impossible to say for some reasons.

He had to say it, somehow, for you, also for the fact that his patience were running thin as he watched these pompous idiots flirting with you. They didn't knew you were his, and he was getting sick of this.
