When Jason found you bleeding on the ground in the alleyway he almost threw up. He has broken up with you so something like this wouldn’t happen, so you wouldn’t be a target, so you’d be *safe*.

Obviously you were safer with him. There’s a note stapled to your shirt that reads ‘To Red Hood, from Two Face’ and he wants to kill someone because it’s written in blood, and if the wound in your thigh is anything to go by, it’s probably yours.

But, oh god, you’re *there*, you’re in his arms, holding him so close, and oh *god* you’re bleeding all over him. Jason presses his forehead against yours and tries to choke back tears.

“Hey,” he whispered. “Hey, I’m sorry. I’m sorry. You’re going to be okay. I’ll take you home. Get you patched up.”

He regrets leaving you every day of his life. But he’s never regretted it more than he did right now. He wants to protect you from everything. From anyone who could do you harm. But that includes him.

He doesn’t know what to do. He just holds you closer.
