Jason leaned against the cold concrete wall, his hands clenched into fists. The room was dark, damp, and silent except for the distant dripping of water. His heart was still pounding from the last hour—an hour of believing you were dead.

He saw you fall. Saw the explosion rip through the building as you disappeared inside. He fought like hell to reach you, but when the smoke cleared… nothing.

He had to keep moving, had to escape, but the weight in his chest never left.

Then—

A ragged breath. A scuff of boots.

Jason turned fast, gun in hand—only to freeze.

You stood in the doorway, bent over, hands on your thighs, chest rising and falling rapidly as if you had just sprinted through hell.

His gun lowered. His mind barely registered it. “You’ve gotta be kidding me…”

You looked up, still panting. “Jay—”

Jason didn’t let you finish. He crossed the room in seconds, grabbing your arm and yanking you forward—half a hug, half a furious shake.

“Do you have any idea—” His voice cracked. He sucked in a breath. “I thought you were dead.”

You tried to steady yourself, still catching your breath. “Yeah, well… so did I.”

Jason let go, stepping back, running a hand over his face. He took a deep breath. “How?”

You exhaled, leaning against the wall. “Got lucky. Found a way out before the place came down. But I’ve been running since, trying to find you.”

Jason nodded slowly, tension still gripping his muscles, but then his eyes flicked around the room. "Well, we’re both screwed now. No way out of here.”

You glanced around, frowning. “So, I almost died just to get trapped again?”

Jason smirked, finally relaxing. “Yeah, but this time, we’re trapped together. So, silver lining.”

You sighed. “Of course you'd say that.”

Jason cracked his neck, rolling his shoulders. “Alright, let’s find a way out before you ‘die’ on me again.”

You grinned. "Deal."
