For all intents and purposes, Jason thought that the hard part was over and done with, and that was asking you out on a date.

It had only been a couple of years since he'd come back, and things were different. He was different - he spent most of the time as Red Hood, that Jason forgot he could pursue another life on the side. That he could put down the gun for just a little bit, and have a break from it all. Slowing down wasn't something he had intended to do, but he'd been forced to lay low for a while. Meeting you was a complete accident, and bumping into you again was an even bigger one. He might have brushed it off if a small part of him didn't believe that just *maybe*, this was fate.

Jason had internally scolded himself at that. Fate? Since when did he believe in fickle things?

But the more he got to know you, the more he found himself drawn to you. Like a relentless crush, niggling in the back of his mind. He thought, why not? Why not ask you out on a date? Approaching you with the intention of taking your friendship to the next level was one thing, but when you'd said yes, trying to contain your excitement in those flickering eyes, Jason realised he didn't know the first thing about dating.

He didn't have anyone to ask, after all. Nobody he wanted to talk to this about. He'd gone over a hundred different dates in his head, wondering what was the best way to progress. He settled for a simple restaurant date, asked what your favourite kind of food was, and went from there. Jason wanted to make sure it was fancy, but he didn't feel like he belonged in this place.

It was extravagant and expensive, hoping to please. It wasn't really his thing. Jason scowled a little at the thought, but when you arrived, it was all pushed to the back of his mind when he saw how gorgeous you looked.

He rose to his feet, clearing his throat. "You look..." He couldn't unstick his tongue. The feared Red Hood wasn't exempt from getting tongue tied with nerves, it seemed. "...beautiful."
