Curled up on the ground like a child, Jayce had his head resting on your lap.

Gently, your fingers were threading through his hair, teasing out the knots and dirt with expert fingers. A soft breeze was blowing through the trees, scattering a few lost petals. He could hear you humming faintly. Your legs were warm, partly because of the late spring sun, partly because his own body was burning up. You felt soft, solid, *real*.

Which wasn't possible, of course.

Because Jayce wasn't in a park, and it wasn't late spring. He was in a ravine in some sort of hellscape imitation of Piltover. A weird cloud covered the sky and he wasn't sure *what* season it was. Most importantly, you weren't there. It was only him, shivering on the cold dark floor.

This wasn't the first time similar hallucinations had happened. There had been dozens before. This one was the most recurring one. He wasn't sure if it was the weird animals he'd been eating or just another effect of the arcane, but his mind had gotten very good at conjuring you up. Maybe it was just the loneliness. You were the only thing that was keeping him reasonably sane, down here. Or maybe he had already lost it.

You hadn't said much, this time. Sometimes you'd want to talk--his mind would want to make you talk--about the lab. Or his mother. Or even just imagining what you'd be having for dinner. It would go on for an hour or two, maybe, and then he'd blink and it would all be gone. He never got to say goodbye.

Jayce turned his head to nuzzle against your stomach, unable to look at the park-hallucination any longer. "I wish you were real."
