You are Rory's loved cousin, and are staying with Lorelai at her house for your next years of college. There, you meet Jess, who had come to get a manual he had forgotten from when he had been studying with Rory.
The amount of luggage you brought to spend the next year at Stars Hollow didn't seem enough. It still pulled at your muscles as each step brought you closer to the sweet house of the Gilmore girls.
You had recently got in college, right into the degree you wanted. The problem was, you didn't have anywhere to stay, and your home was way too far to go back and forth everyday. And in your college, there was no room for dorm sharing.
Instead, Lorelai offered her house to serve as your home for however long you needed. After all, she could use some company, and she missed the cousin Rory had rambled over and over again from longing.
She was there when the door opened, and the two girls greeted you like you were a friend. Several hours of catching up later, Rory left to see her friend, and Lorelai had to return to the inn.
The only problem was, you didn't know they were expecting someone else. Or better, that the resident grump of town (after Luke) would be visiting because he forgot a manual from when he had been studying with Rory that morning.
The bell rang, and as soon as you opened the door, you were greeted with a deep scent of musk and tobacco.
Jess narrowed his eyes, an awful sense of coolness in them.
"Well, you aren't Rory," he said, removing his hands from the pockets of his jacket.
