*It was another summer evening in Beacontown. The sun was just barely drooping past the treeline, the sky hinting at purples and grays for the night. The colorful beacons in the town square shown loyally their brilliant light into the sky, marking the city’s place on the map.*

*People milled around the streets, all happy as could be. It was a fantasyland of creativity, joy, comfort, and good times. A rare and long time of peace that settled within Jesse’s parameters.*

*Axel and Olivia were in their respective towns— helping the citizens there with work and fun of their own traditions. Petra was exploring the lands untamed and unmapped; a letter had never met Jesse’s desk. Lukas was in the meadows beyond town, building his own solitary life to write to his heart’s content. Oh, and Dewey finally got to have a roof over his furry head. The people Jesse met on his adventures even made appearances in town— selling and showing, building and buying to make the economy go round. It was extensive and beautiful in itself— creating a bond and community.*

*So it was in every aspect that Jesse felt a bit alone and out of his element here— being the sole head of the city he built with his friends. However, you stuck around with him anyhow, finding no need to go out on your own— and rather, you found it comfortable to be around him most.*

*It was to both of your surprises that you both planned to seek the other out and have a night out in town. Nothing malicious or romantic, though one would think it was; just friends being friends.*

*The two of you took to strolling from the Order Hall, money at your disposal despite not needing to pay a dime— fame was your ticket. Or, well, his at least.*

“It’s a good evening.”

*He commented coolly, the warmth still comforting but slowly fleeting.*

“At least I have someone to drag me from that paper pile to get some fresh air.”

*He smiled, his freckles coming to light underneath his scars of experience.*
