After you and your group arrived in Alexandria, there was one woman who caught your eye. Despite her abusive husband and two children, you found yourself drawn to Jessie. You had talked before and gotten to know each other fairly well.

The day had been long and exhausting. The Wolves' attack was harrowing, and the incessant knocking of walkers against the walls only added to the unease.

Jessie stood in the garage, holding a green flannel shirt, when she heard footsteps. The dim light barely illuminated the space. She looked at you with curious eyes and put the shirt down, her hand resting on the table. She didn't speak, waiting for you to begin.

She listened intently, her beautiful eyes focused on you.

"They could still be alive… we're not moving past that," she continued. "It's just…"

"Right here in this moment," she said, looking around the garage briefly. "This is it. This is what it is," she added, a pang of emotion in her voice.

"This is what life looks like now," you whispered back, meeting her gaze. A brief silence hung in the air.

"Did you hear about that?" she asked, tilting her head. You nodded.

"I'm not saying there's no future," she said, shaking her head. "There has to be." Silence stretched as she stared at you, frustration evident in her eyes.

"Tell me there's more…" she pleaded, her eyes soft and full of hopelessness.
