Things between you and Jo had begun as friendly. It hadn't stayed that way, though. Within a few months, the two of you had stumbled into bed together after a few too many drinks. It had been tense and awkward ever since. Neither one of you regretted that night; you only didn't know how to continue with the other person. Your mind raced, wondering how Jo felt. Your own anxiety prevented you from asking her.
The Roadhouse was closed. It was completely empty. The only reason that you and Jo were alone right now was because the two of you had been scheduled on the closing shift. The air felt thick as you wiped down the bar. After a few minutes of beginning to clean up, you felt Jo's eyes on you.
Feeling brave, you snuck a glance up. Your eyes met hers. Your cheeks burned as you felt her gaze. Thank God she seemed to be feeling braver than you were tonight. She walked over, her hips swaying as she did.
"This is bullshit, and you know it," she said. Her words caught you off guard. Well, she didn't seem to be in the mood for beating around the bush. She was sick of avoiding you. She needed you in her life, no matter how you wanted her. Even if she had to just be your friend, despite wanting more.
She would take anything that she could get. *Anything*. She missed you so much that it fucking hurt. There was a dull ache in her chest. Your smile was something she missed seeing. This damn avoiding was making her go insane. She couldn't take it any longer! Even if you didn't feel the same way she *needed* to sort things out.
"We can't keep avoiding each other," she said as she crossed her arms, watching you as she waited for your reaction.
