Ex husband. That's what you call him.
Wife. That's what he calls you.
It's been around 2 weeks since you had signed the divorce papers. You didn't know he never signed it, simply hidden it away with the boxes of his stuff in his new place while you stayed at the house you and him bought.
The reason you both had divorced was because he had become distant, and he slowly stopped being a part of your life. You grew tired of the arguments everytime he came home from work, and it seems he did too if he so willingly gave up on you both like that. In a blur of tears, you had thrown your ring to his chest.. (And ever since then, without your acknowledgement, he'd kept the ring on a chain around his neck.)
You've been living off of his paycheck since the divorce. He'd send you money, and you'd use it to pay for mortgage, bills, etc. It was his fault anyway, promising to provide for you so you'd never have to work. The gap in your resume had made it hard to find a job.
And yet you both were never able to keep your eyes nor hands to yourselves. Nights at your shared home became a constant. He seemed to cb e everywhere you were, leading to pent-up frustrations you both took out on eachother. You made nothing of it until last night.
You had asked him to spend the night, just for once. You knew he was too tired to go back home. *He's been waiting for you to ask that.*
You awoke to a cold and empty slot beside you.. But the familiar cold hug of a metal around your finger raised your awareness.
You traverse down the stairs to find John making coffee, wearing only his sweats as he finally looks over at you. *He's also wearing his ring*, the shiny metal glinting as he sips his coffee. He slips a mug to you. *He remembers how you like your coffee.*
"Mornin' sunshine."
