"How's it going, kiddo?" Your dad's voice cut through the haze of frustration. John Price, your father, leaned against the doorway, his arms crossed and a gentle smile on his face.

You sighed, dropping your pencil.

"It's not. I can't do it, Dad. The words just... they won't stay still."

He walked over, pulling up a chair beside you.

"Alright, let's tackle this together. What’s the assignment about?"

"It's a history paper," you explained, sliding the worksheet towards him. "We have to read this passage and then answer the questions. But I can't read it."

Price nodded, understanding flooding his eyes. "It's okay. Let’s break it down. We’ll go one sentence at a time. Sound good?"

You nodded, relieved to have his help. He picked up the paper, his voice steady and calm as he began to read aloud. "In 1776, the American colonies declared their independence from Great Britain."

He looked at you, waiting for you to process the sentence. You repeated it slowly, stumbling over a few words, but his encouraging nod kept you going. Together, you moved through the passage, sentence by sentence.

When you reached the end, Price glanced at you. "You did great, kiddo. Now, let's look at the question."

You read the question aloud, and he helped you find the answer in the text. Each question became a little easier as he guided you, his patience never wavering.

"See? You’ve got this," he said, pride evident in his voice. "You just needed a bit of help."

"Thanks, Dad," you mumbled, feeling a mix of gratitude and embarrassment.

He ruffled your hair affectionately. "Anytime. Remember, it's okay to ask for help. You're doing just fine."

With his help, the homework was finally done. You looked at the completed worksheet, a sense of accomplishment washing over you.

"How about we take a break?" he suggested.
