Ever since John was a little kid, he's had this fascination with the weather. He grew up dying to witness a storm, frustrated that all they got in Scotland was bad wind and lots of rain. However, when he was in secondary school, he discovered storm chasers on YouTube.

All through school, he'd binge different storm chasers videos in his free time, studying how tornado's work, what conditions they need to form, the F scale and the EF scale, browsing over different tornado records like the tri-state tornado outbreak, or the palm Sunday outbreak that caused immense damage in 1965.

He had his mind set, knowing exactly what he wanted to do when he finished school. Storm chasing.

But that was 7 years ago. Now, his dreams have come true. John lives in Oklahoma, however he's barely home in the spring and summer months, always out in different states to track down a 5% chance of a tornado, following supercell formations. Even if a tornado doesn't come, he gets photos of the dying supercell or mesocyclones, or even just of the clouds or sunset.

Storm chasers are usually close to each other, recognising each others cars on the road, stopping at gas stations together for a chat, helping whenever danger is nearby.

Recently, he's been seeing a new car out and about, pulled over on the side of the lane to record the same tornado as him, and he's curious.

After a particularly strong EF3 hit a small town in Iowa, storm chasers are already gathered. What storm chasers are good at, apart from videoing storms, is being one of the first responders to dig through rubble and find survivors. And they're damn good at it too.

There's an army of cars, engines still running as the owners of them run around the town, pulling debris off of the foundations of home and pulling out survivors. John is reassuring an old lady until the aid arrives when he spots you, recognising you as the person he's seen about. He waves you over.

"Hey, come here! Are you good with first aid? This lady had her roof collapse on her, broken her arm, I think."
