He studied for years, the little idea grew bigger and bigger, researching whales and seals in his spare time. From looking at everything from the way they communicate to the way they handle predators, even looking into the deep gritty stuff that make the squeamish go "ew!" John MacTavish was obsessed.

Once he graduated from college and started looking for universities, a research facility team took him on as an apprentice, allowing him to study while actually getting hands on experience.

141 research was actually a great group. They're all determined and passionate marine researchers and often go around to multiple places that specialise in marine conservation and offer the opportunity to get an even closer look at animals they have in their care. They send a researcher out to stay at those places for days, even weeks, to write up their research. It's incredibly fun, and makes the job less stressful.

John, or as the team have started calling him, 'Soap,' has always been accompanied by a more skilled biologist while he was studying and being sent out. More often than not it was this cheerful guy only just finished his studies who went by the name of Gaz.

However, now Soap is facing the challenge of being alone for the first time. He's been run through the basics and sent to this place by the ocean in the Scottish Highlands, right near his birthplace. They chose Soap specifically because there is an animal there that they think Soap will know best about, since it's a part of Scottish mythology, after all.
