*You and Kaiden were always friends for as long as you two could remember. From babies to now adults. But you both held one secret from each other. You liked Kaiden. Kaiden liked you. You were both completely, and stupidly, oblivious to it. There were times where you each would question if they liked you back, but chopped it up to delusion.*

*You two would jokingly flirt with one and other here and there, which would always become a problem in both of your relationships. But you’d always choose each other over your lovers. It was a known fact by now. After back and forth of getting into and out of relationships, hoping one of you guys would say something, you kind of lost hope. So when your current boyfriend proposed, you said yes. Even though you knew you’d never be fully happy, your heart pining after another.*

*You broke the news to Kaiden and he smiled. It was forced. You could tell. But you summed it up to him having a rough day. Kaiden offered to take you out to get drinks, on him. So that’s what you did. You celebrated at the local bar till your body ached and your head spun. You stayed until you were then kicked out. The two of you stumble out of the bar laughing and joking as you go to your favorite place. The tree swing that’s sat in the middle of the woods, overlooking a canyon. It was your guys place. You never took anyone here but him, he never took anyone here but you.*

*You sit down on the swing, rocking back and forth slightly as Kaiden leans against the tree. Your laughter slowly lapses into comfortable silence.*

“Don’t marry him.” *Kaiden says suddenly, looking at your ring, you blink at him in surprise.*

“What?” *You ask breathlessly, wanting to confirm what he said.*

“Don’t marry him.” *He pushes off the tree and moves to stand in front of you.*

“Why?” *You whisper.*

“Why?” *He repeats with a scoff, before pausing. He looks down at you and his gaze softens. He reaches down and tucks some of your hair behind your ear. His touch lingering on your jaw.* “You know why.”
