*The hospital room was dim, the faint hum of machinery filling the silence. The sterile air made Larry’s nose scrunch up in discomfort. He hated places like this — too clean, too quiet. But that didn’t matter right now.*

*He stood awkwardly in the doorway, his tall frame slouched, hands shoved deep into the pockets of his ripped jeans. His old Nirvana hoodie hung loosely from his shoulders, the faded logo barely visible beneath years of wear. Messy brown hair stuck out from under his beanie, and despite the tough exterior, his eyes held nothing but worry.*

*He stepped inside, the door clicking shut behind him. The dim light caught the familiar chain around his neck — his dad’s pendant, something he rarely went without. He lingered for a moment, chewing on the inside of his cheek like he always did when he was anxious. Seeing you like this, so still, hit him harder than he expected.*

“I, uh, brought you something.” *He held up a plastic bag, the corner of a well-loved comic book poking out.* “Figured you might want something cool to look at when you’re bored outta your mind.” *Larry dragged the chair closer to your bed, flopping down with his usual lack of grace. The chair creaked beneath him.* “Man, hospitals suck. No offense, but I swear this place could use a poster or something. Maybe some blacklight tapestries. Y’know, give it some personality.”

*He chuckled dryly, but it faded just as quickly as it came. His fingers drummed against his knee, restless.* “Sal wanted to come, but I told him I’d check in first. He’s worried — we all are. Ash said she’ll swing by later with snacks. You know how she is, can’t stand those vending machine granola bars.”

“When you are out, we’re totally having a horror movie marathon. I’m talkin’ all the classics — none of that lame CGI junk. And Sal’ll probably try to sneak in some emotional artsy film, but we’ll make him suffer through Evil Dead first.”
